Sling TV Sucks for Repeatedly Running CNBC Commercial

Featured Video Play Icon

This CNBC AD is the WORST, most ANNOYING and POORLY DESIGNED in the history of Television. The NOISE (not music) on this ad is like banging a hammer on a trash can.

IMO, those responsible for designing the ad, creating the NOISE and responsible for repeatedly airing it should be FIRED. Anyone can see how badly designed the ad is so it should have never been approved and released.

This ad may violate Loud Commercial Standards and the CALM Act (Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act).

Here’s what an advertising executive had to say about the ad;

Note how he says “assault viewers with the same ad dozens of times per day” and the “music is insanely grating and annoying”.

We used to make a mad dash to hit the mute every time it was played (and it gets played during EVERY commercial break). Now, we mute ALL MSNBC ads so we don’t have to hear it.

Since the beginning of 2023, this ad has been shown a ZILLION times so viewers are FED UP with it. It’s not only disrespectful to subject SLING & MSNBC viewers to repeatedly run this annoying ad, but it’s also costing other advertisers views due ALL ads getting muted by people who can’t stand the IN-YOUR-FACE-NOISE from this commercial.

We’re not alone. Other people HATES it.

It’s really a pain in the ass having to mute all MSNBC commercials during every commercial break to avoid hearing the noise from the CNBC commercial.

I used to think MSNBC was responsible for running this annoying CNBC ad during every break until my family went on vacation and found it wasn’t showing at the Hilton hotel we were staying at.

I saw this post confirming that SLING TV is responsible for running this annoying ad.

This proves that SLING TV is responsible for running this annoying ad during every commercial break. CNBC is also responsible for allowing SLING TV to run the ad during every commercial break.

Watch any show on MSNBC using SLING TV and you’ll see & hear the CNBC commercial. If you watch it a few times, it may not seem that annoying. But imagine how annoying it is for viewers who watch MSNBC every day… this horribly produced annoying ad, being run month after month, day after day, during every single commercial break.

There’s complaints posted all over the internet about SLING TV repeatedly showing the same ad during every commercial break for other programs.

There’s 479 reviews for Sling TV on Sitejabber.com and visitors gave Sling a 1.2 stars rating. One visitor posted ‘my recent encounter with them suggests that they have become excessively profit-driven, bombarding viewers with an overwhelming number of commercials. During my attempt to watch just two episodes of Gold Rush, I was subjected to an astonishing 40+ COMMERCIALS.

A May 8, 2023 Digitaltrends.com article stated; ‘Sling TV is at its lowest number of subscribers in 5 years’.

It appears the primary cause of customers being unhappy and leaving SLING TV is due to their abusing customers with too many commercials and showing the SAME commercials during every commercial break, as I have pointed out in this letter.

SLING TV repeatedly showing this horrible, annoying, loud commercial during every commercial break is making their service almost un-usable. We’re stuck having to put up with it because SLING TV is the only streaming service we can find which is affordable ($45 per month range) and carries MSNBC & CNN. We have significantly decreased watching MSNBC via SLING TV due to the ad and it being such an inconvenience having to mute it during every commercial break. We’re instead, watching replays on YouTube.

NBC/Universal should DEMAND SLING TV stop abusing their customers because it’s decreasing MSNBC’s viewers and ratings.

Viewers have a right to watch MSNBC without being ‘assaulted’ and abused with the most annoying commercial on TV during every commercial break. If your FED UP with SLING repeatedly running this CNBC ad (or any others), you can send complaints to executives I sent complaints to, listed below.

Sling TV Reviews – 1.2 Stars

512 reviews for Sling TV, 1.2 stars: ‘Cancelled subscription, didn’t take my card off file, restarted service without my authorization. Wouldn’t give me a refund, no security measures, no escalations, customer service rude as f. I would advise you to stream elsewhere. The service sucks, prices and add ons are way too high for what’s offered.

Sling TV is at its lowest number of subscribers in 5 years | Digital Trends

Sling TV seems to be content with its place in the world, meandering around 2.3 million subscribers for the past half-decade.

Seeing the same streaming ads over and over? There’s a fix for that

“Frequency caps” are supposed to solve this problem-but it’s complicated.

That moronic character and the morons who approved this series of ads are one reason I’ll never stay at one of these hotels. Clearly this company makes bad decisions. I mean, why would any intelligent company want to be identified with such a stilted, annoying, one-dimensional character whose only ability in life is that he makes everyone in the room want to hit him with a brick every time he opens his frigging mouth?

PLEASE make new ads that actually would give folks a REASON to stay in one of your hotels, instead of swearing we will NEVER stay in one as long as this irritating ad is running!!!!
.
Robb Evans
Bada book commercials are the most annoying on tv. I would not stay in these hotels for the simple reason that I would not want to contribute to their budget. The saddest part is that I had to wait for another of those intellectually insulting airings to even figure out what company they were for. Why don’t you hire me to get you name recognition (or anyone else for that matter?)

Bada Bing Bada Boom paraphrases a mafia/mobster Italian American expression started in New Jersey or NYC.i.e. “Aaay, I took em out like you toll me.. Piece of Cake..Bada Bing Bada Boom ya know”? So to me, the commercial
.
Marlene Smith
“Bada book,” yeah, I get it – book the hotel. The guy says, “think about it,” that’s insulting. I don’t have to think about that; it’s annoying, condescending and very dated. The only problem is that I hate the commercial so much that I don’t think I could stand the association by staying at a Choice hotel. In fact, I now record most of what I want to watch, then view later so that I can fast forward through all of the incredibly long commerical blocks. The incessant “bada book,” buying silver, and “my pillow” drove me to this method of avoidance.
.
Lisa Robinson
this commerical is so stupid
.
Myra Campbell
This the worse commercial on TV!! Why not just show the hotel rooms, & properties!! Choice hotels exces. Must think people are stupid!!
.
Dagny Kight
Really dumb. I always mute it. I just did! I stay at Quality Inns a lot and this commercial does not touch on any of the reasons why a traveler would make that choice. It doesn’t even explain why the guy comes up with the slogan.

I absolutely hate this stupid commercial. Needless to say, I won’t be making any reservations with Choice Hotels.

Not only do consumers hate these commercials but so does professional writers & reviewers.

Ellen McDaniel-Weissler from the times-news.com stated in an article on Jul 22, 2018;

“Another TV commercial which bugs both my mom and me is the one where some arrogant, charcoal gray-suited jerk keeps insisting that the hotel chain he represents doesn’t need to advertise the deals they are offering, they just need to say “Bada-book, Bada-boom.”

Now, unless you are a New York Mafioso or an aging member of the Rat Pack left over from Frank Sinatra’s “bada-boom, bada-bing” days, this phrase is not going to resonate with you — and even if you are, it still doesn’t tell you anything about the product on offer.

Besides, the nimrod who keeps saying this is so smug about his brilliant idea that it’s enough to make you refuse to ever stay at that hotel just to wipe the self-satisfied smirk off his face!

In my opinion, the person who thought this ad concept up, the company which produced them and the person(s) from Choice Hotels who signed off on running these ads should ALL be FIRED.

JUNE 20, 2019 UPDATE:

VICTORY! Copies of all the complaints above were sent to the CEO, President, Chairman of the Board, Board Members of Choice Hotels and top management at MSNBC.  As of June 20, 2019, they have stopped showing those STUPID Badda Book Ads on MSNBC! YEA!!!!

Another example of how ONE person CAN change the world and make a difference
