I recorded a song on my Player Piano called Charley My Boy (published in 1924) which I posted on YouTube and it got flagged as Copyrighted content by Mi Muchacho Carlitos – Claimed by: LatinAutorPerf

Since Charley My Boy was published in 1924, there no way “Mi Muchacho Carlitos” (who I never heard of) should have any claim to this old song. This demonstrates how FLAWED Youtube’s content ID system is.

I filed a dispute and YouTube ruled in my favor.

A new YouTube copyright transparency report reveals the company overturned nearly 5 million false copyright claims last year.

Per the above article: YouTube false copyright claims approached 2.2 million in six months – or nearing 4.4 million annually.

A new copyright transparency report published by YouTube reveals the numbers. Those 2.2 million videos were later reinstated after YouTube determined the copyright claims were ‘incorrect.’ Those incorrect claims represent less than 1% of the more than 729 million total copyright claims issued in that six-month period (Jan. -June 2021).
