Ocala Publix Silver Springs Blvd Complaint about Senior Abuse

I have been shopping at the Publix store at 3450 E Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala, FL since 2003 and have spent spent thousands of dollars there during the past 16 years.

On March 24, 2019 I had a shopping cart full of items which the cashier rang up and the total came to $63. I was looking down to use my credit card to pay for the items and when I looked up, I was SHOCKED to see the cashier and bagger both looking DIRECTLY at me and laughing. They were both young black males.

I immediately asked them what they found to be so funny and they said nothing.

When I came home, I asked my wife if there’s anything about me which people might find odd or amusing. She said she thinks I look exceptional and much younger than my age.

This is not the first time something like this has happen to me. A couple of years ago I was in the garden department checkout line at the Walmart at 4980 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470 and there was a father and son ahead of me. While paying for my purchase I looked up and saw the dad openly mocking me to his son with a loser gesture as shown above.

While I had to endure such harassment from a customer at a Walmarts, I should not have to put up with being laughed at by Publix employees. So on March 24, 2019 I sent a complaint letter to the manager.

4/11/19 UPDATE: I received this message from the manager at Publix so I am considering this matter settled;

“I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention, I sincerely apologize for the poor service you received while you were in my store. I take the concerns of my customers very seriously and I assure you this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Here at Publix we strive for premier customer service and want every customer to feel like kings and queens when you are in stores. I want to assure you that the associates in question have been counseled on proper customer service and your concerns addressed.

Again, I want to apologize and thank you for alerting me to behavior of these two associates”.

P.S. To the PUNKS who laughed at me at Publix and the Dad who found it necessary to mock me in front of his son… when I was  minding my own business and the only thing I wanted is to be left alone; Karma exists… and what goes around, comes around.  What you do to others may someday be done to you.
