Daytona Beach Burger King: Worst in the USA

On Saturday June 30, 2018 we visited the Burger King at 225 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118.  This was not only the worst managed Burger King we’ve ever been to but the absolute worst managed franchised restaurant I’ve ever seen in my life.

We met my wife’s daughter and her three kids at the Daytona Beach Burger King. So we had a party of 7 including our 14 yr/old son.  The first problem we became aware of is the Drive-through was CLOSED.

We went into the restaurant and there was a line of people waiting to place their orders extending to the entrance doors. The reason is because only one register was open with only one person taking orders.  I needed to immediately go to the bathroom.  I was astonished to see that BOTH the Men’s & Women’s bathroom was closed

This caused me to have to go across the street to the Ocean Walk Shoppes to find some place to go to the bathroom.

After quite a bit of walking and looking I found one on the ground level which was a PAY bathroom. I put a quarter in and it didn’t work… so now I’m out 25 cents on account of Burger King not having a working bathroom.  A city worker saw me and told me there was a bathroom open on the 2nd floor so I went there and FINALLY got to use a bathroom.

Afterwards, once again I had to dodge traffic to get back across the street to the Burger King.  I had a taste for a Coke so I had to wait in line for 10 minutes, then paid $2.44 for a medium coke which is BTW, an outrageous price for a medium soda. After I paid, I went to the soda machine and when I selected “Coke”, it said “Not Available”.  To get a refund, I had to wait in line another 10 minutes.

While waiting I noticed that the Credit Card Machine also said “Out Of Order”

It’s not just me, there’s lots of negative reviews posted on the Trip Advisor website about this Burger King. Here’s a few screen shots from the trip advisor website…

Here’s a direct link to the Trip Advisor website about this Burger King; https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34172-d4368057-Reviews-or10-Burger_King-Daytona_Beach_Florida.html

I called the Florida Health Department and asked them about the issue of no restrooms being available at this Burger King at 225 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118.  As I suspected, they said it’s violation not to have a working restroom in a restaurant.

Here’s a link which shows this Burger King has had numerous Restaurant Inspection Violations

To recap all of the things wrong with this Burger King… the Drive through wasn’t working, only one register was open with a single LONG line, the Men & Women’s Restrooms were BOTH out of order, the soda machine was out of regular Coke, the Credit Card Machine said “Out Of Order” and the receipt had the wrong date.

It’s hard to believe that in a city as Internationally known as Daytona Beach, you have a restaurant being ran like something you might find in a third world country.

In contrast to the horrible experience we had at this Burger King, several hours later, when we were headed back home, we stopped by a McDonalds outside of Daytona and there we found two smiling cashiers waiting to serve us… with NO LINES, working restrooms and all the Coke or anything else you wanted available on their menu, and NO “Out of Order” Credit Card Machines.

I sent a complaint letter by mail to the President & the CEO of Burger King on July 2, 2018. On 7/20/18 I received a email indicating they were looking into the matter and sending me a gift card.

Boycott Ocala Florida McDonalds

I had been taking my son to the Ocala McDonalds on Silver Springs Blvd since he was 3.

In March 2012, they tore the McDonalds down which had been on Silver Springs Blvd since the 1980’s and the management stated that they will not be putting a Play Place for kids back in the new McDonalds.  The McDonalds in Belleview, FL (photo above) is like the one we used to have in Ocala.

In this article at Ocala.com, Ms. Allison Quesnel, an executive with the Pacific Arches franchise that owns most of the McDonald’s outlets in Ocala Florida states “Gone, though, will be the Play Place” “I know it’s going to lead to some disappointed children.”

I think eliminating the Play Place is ROTTEN and shows how ungrateful and inconsiderate the McDonalds management is to kids who has been responsible for McDonalds success in the first place. They even stated that they know some kids will be disappointed but apparently they don’t care. They are proving they don’t care by not putting a Play Place back in the new McDonalds.

Ever since I can remember, McDonalds was known as a fun place for kids. Play areas is one of the things which made McDonalds a special place to take kids.

Photo of new McDonalds on Maricamp Road which is the same design the Pacific Arches franchise is building on Silver Springs Blvd. The McDonalds on Maricamp Road used to have a Play Place and they eliminated that one also.

I don’t like the new design…. it doesn’t even look like a McDonalds. This looks more like a coffee shop or something. These new McDonalds don’t have the fun, “kids look” like they used to and they are not “Kid Friendly” especially with the Play Areas gone.

There was nothing wrong with the old McDonalds so why didn’t they just leave it alone? I think Burger King, Wendys or Checkers tastes way better and the only reason I took my son to the McDonalds on Silver Springs Blvd was because of the Play Place for kids.

Since they tore down the McDonalds on Silver Springs Blvd and have built a new one without a Play Place, WE WILL FOREVER BOYCOTT MCDONALDS.

We will NEVER forget or forgive Pacific Arches inconsiderate deed to children here in Ocala Florida.

My son is now 8 and he has vowed to NEVER go back to McDonalds since they eliminated the Play Place which he loved.

Here’s copies of facebook posts from other parents expressing disapproval…

“Carolyn Patti-Briggs: we need to picket”

“Deirdre Saunders · Ocala, Florida: no playplace my son is not going to be happy”

You can let Pacific Arches management know how you feel about them tearing down the old Mcdonalds and building a new one without a Play Place for kids. Here’s a link to Pacific Arches business listing;

I think everyone should BOYCOTT AND PICKET MCDONALDS until they build a NEW McDonalds EXACTLY like the old one with a Play Place.

They also eliminated their Spicy Chicken sandwich, one of the best items they had on their menu, another reason why everyone should Boycott McDonalds.

Update: On 5/23/12 I spoke with a customer service rep at McDonalds Corporate and she told me that McDonalds Corp is not directing franchise owners to get rid of Play Places and the decision to have or not have a Play Place for kids rests SOLELY upon the franchise owner. She stated that in Chicago where she lives, they are building a new McDonalds with a even larger Play Place for kids.
