Publix: Where Shopping is a Pain in the Ass

Publix logo says “Where shopping is a Pleasure“. This page shows incidents where Shopping at Publix turned out to be “a Pain in the Ass” causing a shopper’s groceries to get taken while using the restroom, a senior ridiculed by Publix staff and a black lady falsely accused of shoplifting which resulted in her being TASED and ARRESTED by police.

Publix Taking Groceries While in Restroom

I had a few items I needed to get at a local Publix. I was using a handheld Shopping Basket. After picking up most of the items I needed, I had to go to the restroom so I sat my cart down in the canned goods isle where I was going to get the last of what I needed. I was only gone for about 3 – 4 minutes tops. To my horror and outrage, I found that my Shopping Basket was GONE.

I began asking employees where it went. I asked customer service to make an announcement to have my basket with items returned to me but they refused to make any announcement. In short, I received NO HELP. It was like… too bad, so sad, sorry about your luck (but not really).

My only choice was to get another Shopping Basket and get the 2 items I needed most over again.

I think Publix SUCKS for taking my cart with Groceries while I was in the Restroom for only 3 – 4 minutes.

If they thought it was an abandoned cart, they could have at least taken the cart to customer service for a few minutes before returning the items. I did call and talk with the manager of the store about this while driving home”.

Publix Complaint about Senior Abuse

“I have been shopping at Publix since 2003 and have spent spent thousands of dollars there.

On March 24, 2019 I had a shopping cart full of items which the cashier rang up and the total came to $63. I was looking down to use my credit card to pay for the items and when I looked up, I was SHOCKED to see the cashier and bagger both looking DIRECTLY at me and laughing. They were both young black males.

I immediately asked them what they found to be so funny and they said nothing.

A few months prior to the Publix incident, I saw a dad and his son making fun of me similar to the photo above at a Walmarts.

While I had to endure such harassment from a customer at a Walmarts, I should not have to put up with being laughed at by Publix employees”.

Am posting this to let people know how Publix treat their customers and so others can post if they had a similar experience.

Ocala Publix Silver Springs Blvd Complaint about Senior Abuse

I have been shopping at the Publix store at 3450 E Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala, FL since 2003 and have spent spent thousands of dollars there during the past 16 years.

When I came home, I asked my wife if there’s anything about me which people might find odd or amusing. She said she thinks I look exceptional and much younger than my age.

This is not the first time something like this has happen to me. A couple of years ago I was in the garden department checkout line at the Walmart at 4980 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470 and there was a father and son ahead of me. While paying for my purchase I looked up and saw the dad openly mocking me to his son with a loser gesture as shown above.

While I had to endure such harassment from a customer at a Walmarts, I should not have to put up with being laughed at by Publix employees. So on March 24, 2019 I sent a complaint letter to the manager.

4/11/19 UPDATE: I received this message from the manager at Publix so I am considering this matter settled;

“I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention, I sincerely apologize for the poor service you received while you were in my store. I take the concerns of my customers very seriously and I assure you this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Here at Publix we strive for premier customer service and want every customer to feel like kings and queens when you are in stores. I want to assure you that the associates in question have been counseled on proper customer service and your concerns addressed.

Again, I want to apologize and thank you for alerting me to behavior of these two associates”.

P.S. To the PUNKS who laughed at me at Publix and the Dad who found it necessary to mock me in front of his son… when I was  minding my own business and the only thing I wanted is to be left alone; Karma exists… and what goes around, comes around.  What you do to others may someday be done to you.
