Coney Island is removing all it’s rides

To many people, Coney Island is a sacred place where memories and dreams were made… a place we went with our parents as kids… a place we took our dates as teenagers.

I think it’s an outrage that Coney Island is getting rid of what few rides they had.

What Coney needs is MORE and better rides like they used to have like the Shooting Star and Wild Cat instead of completely eliminating them.

There’s some things in this world which are priceless… where money should NOT be the bottom line. Coney Island is such a place.

Since the current owners obviously don’t appreciate Coney’s history and how much it means to the people of Cincinnati, they should sell it the City of Cincinnati or to an organization which will restore it the incredible Amusement Park it once was.

The last day to ride the rides will be on Sept. 21, 2019.

Coney Island will shut down all its rides at the end of September to pursue what officials described Monday as a “new singular focus on (the) water park experience.” Instead of an all-purpose amusement park, CEO and president Rob Schutter Jr. said he hopes to transform the park into “the region’s premier swim and play destination” in time for Sunlite Pool’s 100-year anniversary in 2025.

Why Coney Island is Eliminating Its rides

Our history: The last time Coney Island got rid of its rides, they went to Kings Island in 1972

Coney Island has announced plans to close down all the amusement park rides to focus on the Sunlite Pool and Water Adventure rides, park officials announced Monday. They plan to dismantle the rides – including the Python, Topspin, Wipeout and River Runner – and relocate them to other theme parks.
